March 2025

Welcoming the Turning of the Seasons

March brought a gentle shift in rhythm at Plas Y Maes. The days were blessed with sunshine, while the mornings remained frosty and evenings reminded us that winter hadn’t quite let go. Each day melted into evenings filled with glorious sunsets, giving way to crisp, clear night skies that felt almost magical in their clarity.

As the Spring Equinox arrived, we welcomed the new season with warmth and intention. Friends gathered at Plas Y Maes to celebrate this sacred turning point around a roaring bonfire built from old wood and gathered branches. There was laughter, drumming, and deep connection as we cast our intentions into the flames—wishes not only for ourselves but also for those we hold dear. A moment to honour the light returning and the year unfolding.

The land has been waking too. Our maintenance and spring-cleaning efforts continued in full swing. Pruned branches from the orchard were chipped and lovingly returned to the base of the fruit trees, enriching the soil once more. The Iachusol Enaid field had its first cut of the year, giving a fresh trim to the grass, while pruning and reshaping of the wisteria was done with care to encourage an abundant bloom in the coming months.

In the vegetable garden and mandala beds, the quiet work of weeding and tending carried on, and any dead or unsuccessful plants were cleared to make room for new life. The herb garden received its own seasonal refresh, and this month marked the beginning of our busiest sowing period. Seeds lovingly saved and harvested last year were carefully sown and nestled in the polytunnel, where they can grow strong and healthy in the early spring warmth.

One of the more peaceful additions to the land was the creation of a private yoga and meditation nook, surrounded by flowering shrubs. It’s a space that holds the promise of stillness—a place to reconnect with yourself in nature’s quiet embrace.

This month also brought the joy of reunion, as we welcomed back a past volunteer before their return home to Canada. Sharing familiar smiles, stories, and work on the land together once more was a true gift.

Meanwhile, Stuart has been hard at work completing a brand new Geodesic Dome—designed with versatility and beauty in mind. It’s soon to be launched into the world at the upcoming Unearthed Festival, marking the beginning of a new chapter where it can be hired for special events and gatherings.

We’re delighted to welcome an upcoming retreat at Iachusol Enaid: “Yoga Retreat for People Who May Hate Yoga”, running from 4th–8th September 2025. This unique and gently transformative experience is designed for those who feel curious about yoga and meditation but have felt unsure or unwelcome in traditional spaces. It offers a grounded, inclusive approach to self-discovery, with no pressure, just presence. For full details and how to join, visit dan-guerra.com/upcoming-retreats.

As March fades into April, the land continues to stir and stretch its limbs. With each passing day, new life emerges and fresh energy fills the air at Plas Y Maes.

Until next time,

Warm wishes from all of us at Plas Y Maes 🌱
